Joe Louis Walker Joe Louis Walker says his mother tongue is the blues. He grew up on the music, went from listening to it with his family in San Francisco as a kid to renting an instrument to play in his high school's battle of the bands, to performing with the likes of Fred McDowell, Ike Turner and Lightnin' Hopkins at age 16.
