Gray whale wows crowds in Henderson Bay A gray whale was swimming during the tidal exchange in the lagoon near Henderson Bay on the Key Peninsula Wednesday before noon. Several dozen spectators marveled at the sea-going mammal as it swam peacefully in front of cameras and binoculars.

(AP) - A gray whale that appeared to be trapped for a time Wednesday in the shallow water of Burley Lagoon in south Puget Sound made its way into deeper water. But experts say the whale appears to be ailing and may not survive. John Calambokidis of Cascadia Research in Olympia told the Kitsap Sun it appears to be emaciated and apparently has an injury behind its blow hole.
