Guest column: Protect yourself from childhood diseases As a child, you probably hated to go to the doctor for “shots,” but as an adult you now know those once-dreaded immunizations are for your protection. Childhood immunizations protected us from tetanus (lockjaw), diphtheria (an upper respiratory tract illness) and pertussis (whooping cough).
