Taking time to savor the Cape’s birdlife The smell of the sea and a chorus of birdsong greet me at the entrance to the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. In the distance, you can hear the loud honking of Canada geese, while in the nearby bushes, I spot a red-winged blackbird, white-crowned sparrow, and the orange-and-brown rufous-sided towhee.
