She was my guide on a recent trip to Andasibe, where she pointed out a Parson's chameleon lying motionless on a branch and a panda-like indri dangling shyly from the top of a tree.
It is the black-and-white indri, largest of the lemurs a type of small primate found only in Madagascar.
After a few minutes, the indri gives a high-pitched, sustained cry a spacing call, a warning to any other indri in the area, and a sound that stays with you.
