On Friday, May 31, the families at Diegueño Country School took a 100-year voyage back in time to the shores of Ellis Island. In a re-enactment of the journey taken by millions of hopeful souls, the families were met by inspection officers, reviewed by immigration nurses, and heard the powerful stories of countless immigrants who took the long journey to America in pursuit of a better life.
