How to grow day lilies — the one-day wonders Day lilies (Hemerocallis) are bursting out in gardens throughout the Lehigh Valley. While the spectacular blooms last only one day, each plant offers multiple blooms over a period of a week or two. There are day lilies that bloom early, midseason and well into fall (mid-June until frost). There are even varieties that have a second bloom season. Day lilies are hardy, long-lived perennials.
