  • Peabody man sentenced for stealing food

    SALEM, Mass. — A Peabody man has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to a series of meat and seafood thefts from North Shore supermarkets. Ronald Pretola pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Salem District Court to stealing a beef roast from a Middleton Market Basket in January, and for trying to steal a cartload of groceries from a Beverly Stop & Shop in March.
