unthaw or thaw

To thaw means to warm up something that has been frozen. When ice thaws it becomes water. 

“I forgot to thaw the chicken, so we’ll have to order pizza for dinner.”

Although it doesn’t seem logical, unthaw has the identical meaning in North America. 

“The power was off for three days, and everything in the freezer unthawed.”
