Nutritional Drug Shortages Take Toll on Smallest Patients There are only a few providers of TPN in the United States right now. The drugs are difficult to manufacture and if one batch of critical TPN components like phosphorous or calcium goes sour it can send ripple effects through the industry as another supplier tries to pick up the slack by filling the additional orders.
