- Nauticus announces next mascot
Voters have selected Splash the Sea Dog as the next mascot for Nauticus. Splash beat out Nicky Nauticus and Captain Nauticus, the maritime center announced Saturday. The dog wears a blue-striped shirt, red scarf and sailor cap. Public voting began last month. The maritime center received more than 1,000 responses. Nauticus opened in Norfolk 20 years ago.
