Outdoors commentary: More thoughts on regulating ATVs I couldn’t agree more with Pat Wray’s (“It’s time to license all-terrain vehicles”) June 6 column. But aside from the damage to sensitive vegetation and soil erosion/compaction ATVs can cause when illegally off-road, their virtually uncontrolled use for hunting purposes has likely been a huge contributor to the decline of mule deer herd populations in eastern Oregon areas.
