The Passaic is a tough river to love. On the lower end, one bank is hemmed in by a highway, the other a mud flat rich in carcinogens. Even on good days, the Passaic gets little or no respect. Who could love such a hard-luck, gritty urban waterway that laps up against so many Bergen and Passaic county towns?
