Mooreland, now on the campus of Lakeland Community College, once hosted Eleanor Roosevelt and heads of state as the early 1900s home of transportation magnate Edward Moore. Along with building the interurban railroad to serve most of Lake County, Moore built the mansion for his family. The last family member lived there until the early 1980s, when she willed it to the college.
