  It's a slow start to the year for the St. Lawrence Seaway. Cargo shipments declined 12 percent from the same period last year.

• Seaway Ports Optimistic Despite Drop in Cargo
  The St. Lawrence Seaway reported cargo shipments from March 22 to May 31 totaled 8.1 million metric tons, a decline of 12 percent year-over-year. Despite the slow start to the season, which began at the end of March , regional U.S. ports remain optimistic.
