Great small flowering tree for our yards For this edition of Garden Journeys, YNN's Terry Ettinger introduces us to a small flowering tree for our landscapes, Cornus kousa or kousa dogwood. It's great for Upstate New York yards, even though it's native to Korea, China and Japan. It's closely related to our native Cornus florida.

Different dogwoods dazzle the eye - Sat, 06 Jul 2013 PST The last of the dogwood blossoms are still gracing gardens around the area. The Eastern dogwoods started blooming in late April and have been putting on a show ever since. The Kousa dogwoods are just finishing as I write this. The most popular dogwoods found in gardens here are the pink-flowering Eastern or Florida dogwoods (Cornus florida) that are native to the forests of the Eastern U.S.
